Started off strong really enjoyed the world building. Though as we got farther in the story it felt like FMC was very naive and refusing to grow which got a little annoying.

This book was so so good! I loved the banter between the love interest and the protagonist, and how the romance was very much a subplot in this, with just enough that it's clear it will develop in future books.

My favourite part of this however, was how war was depicted in all its complexity, in a similar style to The Poppy War or the Hunger Games- I'm glad I have the next one after that cliffhanger too!

I knew 50 pages into this book that it would be a five star read. Spark of the Everflame is the first book in the Kindred's Curse series, a four-book romantasy by Penn Cole.

This book and series is available on Kindle Unlimited, for my fellow subscribers.

What to expect:
🔥 Fantasy romance
🔥 1st person single POV
🔥 Demi gods vs mortals
🔥 Rebellion & secrets
🔥 Touch her & d!e

The Spark of the Everflame sucked me in from start to finish, and I devoured this book in a day.

Penn Cole's writing style? Immersive
World building? Seamless
Character development? Captivating
Banter & tension? Ate it up

I immediately picked up book 2—Glow of the Everflame—because I NEED to know where this story goes. I highly recommend others to start this series, if they have not already.

Fantastic! Really scratches the ACOTAR itch. Strong FMC very excited to read the whole series. It’s got great world building pretty easy to follow not a lot of details for the magic system which is fine.
