Murder on a School Night
Rating: 4.25/5 stars
I want to first say thank you to NetGalley and HarperCollins Children’s Books for giving me access to this ARC copy of Murder on a School Night by Kate Weston. I had originally decided to sign up for an ARC based on the title and the description listed, and I am so thankful that I did. This was one of the funniest thriller reads I think that I have ever had the pleasure of reading. The “menstrual murderer” is something that will live rent free in my head till the day that I die. From the start to this book to the finish line I was dedicated, and literally could not put the book down until I was finished because I literally needed to figure out what was going to happen next, asap. There was a lot of conspiracy’s going on throughout the book, and this author ate and left no crumbs when it came to making sure the readers had an answer to every single one. (I don’t think I have ever read a book by an author that has done that before this one, and I am so thankful for that.) The plot twist completely came out of no where for me and I was genuinely surprised. I have been in a really bad reading slump lately, and this book did not hesitate to drag me through the trenches and get me immediately hooked. I will recommend this book to anyone and everyone who will listen.
Normally, just for me personally, I do not normally enjoy reading YA books where there is a set of girl best friends involved. Often times I find it super annoying, but with this book I absolutely loved Annie and Kerry and the friendship they had throughout the book!!!
**Although I got this book FREE through Netgalley I am leaving this review voluntarily. Seriously, go f’ing read it on release day, it is so good!

I KNEW HEATHER WAS GOOD HAHAHAHAHA (seriously I loved this book so much)
Dialogue between the two protagonists was really funny and the saving grace. Plot itself was far fetched and not super interesting.

5 stars!
A magnificent murder mystery with a feminist thrust.
Kerry and Annie, BFFs and investigators extraordinaire (maybe). Let's face it they're not exactly fit the stereotype of cool, in fact they're right at the bottom of the so called "social food chain". While a party is the last thing on Kerry's list Annie ropes her in to attending their first official sixth form party! But they've been invited under one condition, they have to help queen bee Heather find out who has been leaving her threatening messages. However Kerry gets more than she bargained for when she's literally about to kiss the HOTTEST guy in school, but instead she finds the body of one of Heather's gang, that has been suffocated with a menstrual cup.
My goodness that was absolutely brilliant and so so funny! The witty humour had me from start to finish, it truly felt like being back at college (but the funny bits). This was just so cool and I know that our library users will absolutely love this! The comedic timing was great!
There were lots of important topics that were shouted about that I know will be appreciated by so many. To mention a few, periods and menstruation are natural, they are not dirty or to be hidden away like something shameful. It is not only women who have periods! And we're in the 21st century why are they still calling period products sanitary products? Get with the times people, PERIODS ARE NOT UNSANITARY!
Overall this book not only had me in fits of laughter throughout but I was also hooked on finding out who the period product killer was. This was so much fun from beginning to end! I will definitely be recommending this book!
And with that I say, "GOOD VULVA TO YOU!"

british heathers-esc tone with some armchair detective added in.
