Sometimes to go forward, you have to go backwards

Catherine Van Alden aka Cat to her friends owns and makes her living running a cupcake shop in her hometown of Kurrajong Crossing a small town in Australia. She has made a life for herself and is happy with her life despite her parents' attempts to still control her life.

Zac Hartford left Kurrajong Crossing barely out of high school to pursue a dream to become a famous rock star. Even though it has meant leaving a part of himself behind. Zac and Cat were involved during their teens until something happened. Cat believes that Zac destroyed her family and isn't willing to forgive him. Zac has kept the truth of the incident hidden all of these years. But it is finally time to heal himself and come clean about what really happened even if it means going back to Kurrajong Crossing and facing those demons.

The action in this story takes place over a relatively short period of time and is rather dramatic with all of the myriad emotions involved. But it is very much based on things that have and do happen to people because of things done as a teenager that make sense way back then.

Do things work out? Of course they do since this is a HEA but the ride to the HEA is what makes this book worth reading.

I did receive a copy of this novel from the publisher in exchange for a fair and unbiased review.

This book lacked plot and character development for me. Hard to get through. I didn’t feel connected to any of the characters.
