I honestly don’t know what to think about this book. But I’ll try to break down my thoughts.
1. It’s too long. The story is stretched out so thin that there are so many spaces of complete boredom. There is so much build up to the end (which is a pretty crazy good ending) that when you get there, you’re like “if the entire book was like this, it would be SO good!”
2. The best part about this book is the characters. It starts out with many different perspectives that mostly are not connected in any obvious way. Then, everything starts to come together. Sanderson does an amazing job of putting us inside each individual’s mind even if it is in third person. The differences in tone for each character make the story even more interesting.
3. The romance between Siri and Susebron is AMAZING. I love that it starts as a terrifying experience for Siri. Then she learns one thing about him and instantly everything changes. We don’t expect their relationship to be anything special but it is so sweet. The ending of their story almost made me cry.
4. Literally every fantasy book that I read nowadays is about the buildup of a great and inevitable war. I’m so tired of this same story. The world that Sanderson creates is so unique. Who would have ever thought to make color something that determines status and wealth. He took something that everyone takes for granted and flipped it on it’s head. AMAZING. I think Sanderson could have come up with a much better plot then the one that’s in this book.
I honestly still can’t decide if this was a good book or not.

Warbreaker follows a pair of sisters whose destinies do a 180 when their father makes a decision about their futures.

Sanderson paints a world of two realms, always at the brink of war, a treaty of marriage, the only thing keeping the peace. But it's also a world of Returned and Awakened, two different magic systems, clashing religions, broken societies, and at its center, a study of how adaptable humans can be in the most dire circumstances.

I had a lot of fun with this book. There were twists I didn't see coming, I gasped out loud several times. However, the end wrapped up so quickly and too conveniently. Otherwise, it's a great read, and I highly recommend it to anyone who likes fantasy (aged 15+).

Sanderson did a wonderful job creating a world that was both vibrant and drab. The end of the book was quite the ride filled with twists and turns. This story shows that sometimes you can have have all the riches in the world, but that doesn’t mean you are living a fulfilling life. Loved those that finally took a stand to make change happen. This is a stand-alone book but I hope the story continues at some point.
