Freedom is a Constant Struggle is a collection of speeches and interviews by Angela Y. Davis delivered during various instances. The said writings talk of the prison industrial complex, black panther movement, Ferguson Protests, Palestinian issues and abolitionist ideas along with other intersections of race, sex, caste, class, gender among other things.
.
I highly recommend the book for those who want to learn more about the prison industrial complex and mass incarceration of Africa Americans/Latinos/Asians/ Native Americans in US Prisons. The unfortunate and tragic Death Penalties, the exploitation of trans women in American prisons among other things.
She also talks of a need to study with an internationalist approach and the importance of a mass movement encompassing various intersections and how social justice movement across the world are somehow related to us invoking a particular example of how Palestinian activists gave insights on tear gas shells used in the Ferguson Protests and how US police is trained by those in Israel and a security company by the name G4S provides security to celebrities, runs detention centre around the world, runs protection homes for women, correction centres etc. around the world and it’s role in Israel against the Palestinians and other problematic things.
.
I have noted quite a few other readings from this book, I want everyone to read the same but in bits and pieces otherwise it’ll get repetitive because she talks about a lot of similar issues. Angela herself is an inspiration and I can’t wait to read more of her.
A ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5! Just don’t read it in a go, stop and assimilate and pick it up again in a couple of days.
