Cary and Derek, plenty of humor, heat, and heart.
Book 4 of A.J. Truman's Single Dad's Club, The Fireman and the Flirt, features Cary, who was bullied in high school, and Derek, Cary's older brother Cal's buddy who fled after high school and has now returned, recently widowed and with a daughter. Cary doesn't trust people in town to have his back and Derek doesn't know how to fit back in. But they start to spend time together often because Cary's going to try to help Derek find a house to buy, and shenanigans ensue! This book has plenty of seriously funny moments, and lots of sweet ones, too. Now I need to go back and read the rest of the series! I received an advance copy. This is my own opinion.

There is honestly no reason for there to be Harry Potter references in a queer book published in 2024. Other than that, it was a good story with great characters.

This one wasn't my favorite. Maybe it was because I read it on ebook rather than audio. I had a difficult time with the bullying plotline as well. I thought their third act break up was a little silly.
