Wreck the Halls by Tessa Bailey; 4 Stars
December Book Club Book
I really liked Beat, Mel was cool too but honestly, Beat is what hooked me and kept me going. I thought the premise of the rock stars children and how they are the only people who really know what the other is going through. This book was super enjoyable for me but nothing crazy. The one thing that I didn’t love was this weird big sexual secret Beat had. It’s not even that weird and I feel like it was just blown out of proportion. One thing I did like about that scenario is that Mel said “You know what, we tried it, I know that there is nothing wrong with it, but it’s just not for me,” and they worked it out. The more I read the more I liked it. Towards the end when they reconciled and he showed up at her bowling tournament and then the subsequent snowball fight was so fun I just think they mesh really well together. Honestly, I read this book for a 24-hour read-a-thon weeks ago so shame on me for not taking notes like I normally do, (hence this very unspecific review). Overall, fun and festive read.

I loved every bit of this sexy Christmas rom-com. Not a five star read in the same way as a story like The Unmaking of June Farrow, but definitely five stars for the fun, the humor, and romance. Loved it and will be looking for more fun reads from this author.

Overall I really liked the book. There were some great one liners from the characters. Wouldn’t exactly classify this as a Christmas story apart from it taking place in the winter.

I should have stopped with the coordinating names (Beat and Melody). But we had a goal to meet, so I persevered. This was stupid. NOTHING about this was a holiday read.

I just could not try to attempt to like these characters for any longer. When there was no reason that they would appeal to me as people at all.
