jnn314's review against another edition
The film on which this book is based is one that I watched once and remember fondly. When I stumbled upon the book a year or so ago, I was excited to give it a read. However, I am just over a third of the way through it and I have no intention to finish it. Although there are many funny and even hopeful aspects of the story, I am turned off by the frequent disparaging of women and their bodies, occasional homo- and transphobia, and ableism in the form of using the story of a disabled person to "save" a man who can't seem to save himself.
Minor: Ableism, Transphobia, Homophobia, and Misogyny
