Atmospheric with small-town creepy vibes. Gorgeous and creepy illustrations that made me squirm at times. Felt like it could have had some more time to build up the main character's motivations and justify her choice at the end of the climax. Made me feel similar things to Midsommar in its more suggestive and atmospheric tension than outright horror until the very end. Fun ride!

Thank you NetGalley, Daniel Kraus and Independent Publishers Group for the opportunity to read and review this graphic novel. This is the perfect horror comic to read in Fall/Autumn or during the spooky season. I thoroughly enjoyed following Kat and Sybil's journey taking them to the supposedly perfectly quaint Comfort Notch. The mythology of the town is fabulous, tension is built at a great pace. The story is top notch and the art work is beautiful. The horror of humanity is delivered so well in this complete volume. I will be telling all my friends who appreciate comics to check this one out.

Retread of like every other american folk horror story about a town requiring a sacrifice for the forest/harvest/nature god/demon and they enjoy some natural bounty because of it. nothing new here at all, and I honestly hate the motherhood trope, esp, so boring. All the characters were boring and flat.

There were a lot of convenient plot points that just fell into place in kinda lame ways. Why did they give her the guitar back? I don't even get why they were trying not to let her read the newspapers in the actual public library. Like that felt like just trying to string the reader along by not telling US about what was in the newspapers.

The ending fell extremely flat for me. Really didn't make sense and had a stupid climactic event that was just for shock value.

The art was totally mediocre. nothing really wrong with it, but it was kinda bland and not at all horrific. I guess it kinda matched this completely average story.

I didn't hate it i guess, but I didn't really like it either. I've read/watched this exact story enough times.
