This one was a bit of a victim of the sophomore slump for me. It lacked some of the action and magic of the first book. Even though I knew how it ended (thanks spoilers/preteen daughter), I’m excited to read the third book!

2.75 ⭐️ This book had only slightly better dialogue (my main issue with powerless) and none of the plot elements of the first that had drawn me to the series in the first place. I don’t think this book needs to be as long as it is- truly i don’t think it needed to be a whole book at all. It felt repetitive, slow, and i found myself skimming a lot. the cliffhanger at the end is an interesting one but tbd on if it’s enough for me to pick up the next book.

The cliff hanger at the end of this one is WILD! Seeing Paedyn and Kai throughout this second book go through ups and downs and inside out. Through hate and fighting feelings they have to battle their own minds and hearts, each other, and those who want to get a big payout. I loved the character development in this one vs the first. This series is doing a great job of balancing story and characters!

What the actual fuck? What the fuck? The end has me baffled and craving more, besides the whole slow burn during the whole book. It was soo good and better than the first book, I'd say. Can't wait to continue reading. Waiting until the next book will come out as a paperback. Fell in love with that whole story. Highly recommend reading it.
