Tomie is truly a great example of bizzarro horror. It's just so weird and creepy! The idea of a girl that mesmerizes every man that ever sets eyes on her to the point that they want to kill (for) her, but no matter how many times she's being murdered she always comes back (and sometimes in multidutes) is just so intriguing. Every Tomie has a different personality, but her goal is always to wreak havoc and ultimately meet her own demise.

The body horror in this is just so deliciously disturbing, it made my skin crawl. The only downfall of the story is that I wished it had more depth to it. The characters are quite flat, and Tomie's backstory is not really fleshed out. I wished the stories contained a little more mystery and not so much straight-forward horror and gore (even though the depictions of it were really, truly gorgeous as in per usual Junji Ito fashion).

All in all, a solid creepy read, just not an instant favorite as I hoped it'd be.

Not going to lie, after reading something as good as Uzumaki this volume ended up being a little disappointing. I didn't like the first half very much, there weren't any good scares and the characters made dumb choices. The last two chapters were a lot better, the ones about the mountain and the waterfall, a lot more creepy. Ill continue the series eventually.

So goddamn strange and absurd. I like it! The drawings are horrific and the mystery sucks you in. I can’t wait to know more about Tomie. What the hell is she?

Imagine a 42-pieces-mutilated-Tomie scattered around some city in Japan, each piece resurrecting at a certain place, at a certain time, just to be killed and mutilated again—Soon enough, Japan will be filled with Tomies. I'll be damned. This must be the reason why I found it confusing before, without actually finishing it. I'm thinking of only a particular body, but there are a lot of events I can't put side by side with another. Anyway, now that I've seen Tomie in a fuller picture–incredible haunting. I kind of like this.
