Wonderful end for the series. The Chronicles of Ancient Darkness series was a great read. I hope Michelle Paver writes more.

Sadly, I actually found Oath Breaker a bit more of a slog to get through compared to the previous books in the series. It almost felt a little same-y? There were aspects I enjoyed and it did keep me engaged enough to finish it and be excited about the final book in the series, but overall it was just a bit mid.
I think I mostly loved Wolf’s character development in this instalment! But learning more about Torak and Renn’s family histories was also interesting, as in previous books. And I also love learning more about each of the different clans - especially the Oak clan this time.
It definitely feels like we’re building up for a huge finale, which will be well-earned and worth the build up I hope! There was yet another aspect of maturity in Oath Breaker for our main characters, as well as ever-growing anger, and it really does feel like we’ve grown with them a lot.
I’m excited to be nearing the end of the series to bring everything together and can’t believe there’s only one instalment left!

This whole series was surprisingly good. Loved all of the books!
DNF at 23%.
After reading the previous book from this series (Oath breaker) which was kind of a disappointment for me, I thought I should give a chance to the final book because I wanted to know how the series ends. Unfortunately after struggling to read it for a while I gave up.

Going into Soul Eater I knew that I'd love it because I adored the first two books and this one is no exception. It's a great read for a winter night, Paver really pulls you into the world of Soul Eater and you can practically feel the icy wind on your face and the snow beneath your feet. I was thrilled when the Bat Mage was introduced because I love bats so much! I think that this is my favorite book in the Ancient Darkness series yet!

I love how much research Michelle did in order to do this series well. I feel like I'm learning at the same time as being really entertained. Looking forward to seeing what unfolds in the next three books!
This is such a good ending to the series! What a roller coaster ride and then a satisfying, cathartic conclusion. I’m glad I stuck with this series all of the way through, and I’m sure I’ll be rereading it at some point in the future.
