Once you get going on these it is easy to get swept along. This time, Wesley and Neil are working parallel on cases that only seem to share a general location. But once again history is repeating in unexpected ways.

The number of coincidences that Ellis includes so that her historical and present-day murder's parallel is getting very annoying, but if taken as just a story, it is decent. The number of lucky coincidences that happen are just so improbable that it makes me laugh, but if the story is just taken as it is, it is an entertaining read.

A skeleton is discovered in a stately home’s garden which is being renovated - the victim appears to have been buried alive but has been there for centuries. A young man is discovered stabbed to death in a caravan and a local solicitor is murdered during a village cricket match. DS Wesley Peterson and DI Gerry Heffernan have plenty to keep them occupied in this sixth book of the series.
