So enjoyable to read classics. This was an interesting read about a woman who really comes into herself. I get why it's a classic, feminist, and why people still love it today.

I love my sweet little Jane, my feisty and good Jane 💖
I read this book first in junior high. I was too young for it. The language wasn't difficult but I didn't truly appreciate the themes of the novel. I just challenged myself to read every single book on the classics shelf at my school library; Jane Eyre was located on the shelf.
Last month, my online book club selection was Jane Eyre. I wasn't looking forward to reading it because I hadn't enjoyed it in junior high. But I cracked open the book anyway and was richly rewarded. I now love this novel. I can understand and sympathize with the trials that Jane endured. I can admire her perseverance and her determination to stand up for what she believes is right. This book is going on my favorites shelf and I will be rereading it.
A couple of my favorite quotes -
It is vain to say that human beings ought to be satisfied with tranquility; they must have action; and they will make it if they cannot find it. Millions are condemned to a stiller doom than mine, and millions are in silent revolt against their lot. Nobody knows how many rebellions, besides political rebellions, ferment in the masses of life which people earth. Women are supposed to be very calm generally; but women feel just as men feel; they need exercise for their faculties, and a field for their efforts, as much as their brothers do; they suffer from too rigid a restraint, too absolute a stagnation, precisely as men would suffer; and it is narrow-minded in their more privileged fellow-creatures to say that they ought to confine themselves to making puddings and knitting stockings, to playing on the piano and embroidering bags.
