The OG enemies to lovers

This book took me alone time to read partially because I read Unravel Me in the middle of it so I took a break about 300 pages in. The other reason it took so long was because it was along and wordy book. I also spent a day reading 20 pages that I had already read because I forgot it. The other reason was because it was kinda of boring. I have it a 2 because the whole thing with Lydia was entertaining and the last 15ish pages made me happy. I wish Mr. Darcy showed up more in the book.

I read this book because my OM team was doing a play based of the theme of Pride and Prejudice so I thought reading the book would give me insight

I canny lie, I struggled with this book, not because of it's contents but rather it's prose. It's been nearly a decade since I touched a piece of Classic literature and man it really threw me off. Everything required a thorough and slow read, which ended up feeling quite liberating as my biggest sin as a reader is being a skimmer. It was hard to follow who was speaking at times because everyone was a 'Miss *insert surname here*'. However, there are some lines that just hit. Jane Austen, you are a writer. Really and truly.

“I cannot fix on the hour, or the spot, or the look, or the words, which laid the foundation. It is too long ago. I was in the middle before I knew that I had begun.”

It upset me that characters were different from how they were usually betrayed in adaptations and some of the original characteristics tore me apart.

Would recommend (because come on, it's a classic for a reason), wouldn't read again (I rather watch The Lizzie Bennett Diaries for the umpteenth time...).
