bro... so good.. genuinely chilling / filled with tension, the hotel escape scene was harrowing and the last part where it becomes a personal genealogical horror for the narrator was so so well done, just like the dunwich horror, this story takes what is initially a series of rumors about a given town (a mix of racist/ classist gossip and regional folklore) and then turns that series of rumors into something truly grand, stunning, terrifying and powerful, powerful beyond the prejudice that produced it. Also there is an Oberlin cameo so what more could you want. I'm getting to the point w lovecraft where the connections and references between/ common to many of the stories are starting to rly weave together into an extended/ interconnected mythos which feels increasingly satisfying and rewarding to delve into.
