Elric is again pitted against the sorcerer K'aarna. This time Elric is hired to take care of the prodigal merchant who employs the services of K'aarna. This will mark yet another pyrrhic victory for Elric and show how merciless Stormbringer truly is.

All of the stories adapted are short stories where Elric fights Chaos except the last one - To Rescue Tanelorn - where Elric's friend, Red Archer, is the main character and travels between multiple worlds to find the way how to save this legendary city from being overrun by Chaos forces. You might say these are all stories about Elric's wanderings that are not related to the main storyline and I would agree. But nevertheless stories are interesting and engaging. Only pitfall is to make sure you dont read it in quick succession with other Elric stories otherwise you will very soon experience utter saturation. When it comes to stories like these (and here I mean also Conan and other similar works that were originally serialized in one form or other), savor it and read slowly and in between other works for full enjoyment.

Art is somewhat a mixed bag for me. While some of the stories are drawn pretty well, in the initial issues Elric is so much emaciated that he more resembles heavy drug addict and I am not sure how he can even carry Dragon Helm on his head let alone Strombringer. Heh, in comparison creatures from King Under The Hill look like they are on good and healthy diet.

Interesting collection of stories, Elric as always is torn between his constant loss through every victory gained and love to women that he always fears will somehow meet their doom by his hand.

Recommended to fans of Elric and his adventures.
