I loved Edwards’ other books The Retreat and The House Guest and gave both 5 stars. This started out as 5 stars too, and the first 60% brought me on a thrilling ride. 

The last 40% I glazed over listening to and picked up the gist….For some reason I totally lost interest and it made me really dislike one of the MC’s. 

The epilogue (which many other reviewers disliked) only reinforced that hatred for the character and left me feeling ☹️ 

Still going to read the rest of Edwards’ backlist because I love his writing style, original plot lines, and twisty twists!

infant kidnap and neglect, violence towards infant came out of nowhere. The blurb gave no inkling of this and I purposely avoid books containing infants being taken from parents or neglected in any way. So I had to stop, which was unfortunate because I was enjoying it and I'm a huge Edwards fan.
