Thin Girls

Interesting book about a tough subject matter. I disliked that the book never actively grappled with the unreliable narrator or nodded to the fact she was unreliable. In fact that somewhat faded away at the end, where it felt like we were to take her as entirely reliable. Also some of the plot points felt cliched.

I'm sad to say that I couldn't get through this book, but the subject matter is just too much for me and the narrator and other characters introduced aren't very likable. This is a heavy topic that needs to be portrayed in more contemporary novels, so I can see other readers appreciating Thin Girls. It's just not for me.

Loved this book. It was emotional, heart-wrenching, and insightful. It also really made me contemplate the way society forces females to think too much about the way they look and how they should follow some time of model in order to believe they are attractive, otherwise they are seen as "not normal," "ugly," or any number of negative things. Such a good book.
