Review of "Secret Life of Bots" only
I just finished Artificial Condition, the second book in the Murderbot Diaries series, and really liked it. Greg at Book Haven noted my excitement and recommended this short story to me.
"The Secret Life of Bots" is not related to Murderbot in any way but they do have a similar feel. There's a...not entirely compliant robot with a quirky personality, a dry sense of humor, and a penchant for saving humanity from our stupidest impulses.
This was a fun little read (available to read free at ClarkesWorld Magazine) and I would like to read more about Ship & Bot 9, either before or after the adventure detailed in this story. Highly recommended for Murderbot fans.

A bit like lower decks (the star trek animated series) but with bots instead of the lower decks of Starfleet, and the stakes for humanity way higher. Great little story. I serve.

The secret life of bots:
Really enjoyed this short story of an itty bitty bot on board a space ship. The bot's mission, the ship's mission, the stressed out crew... and the snippets that give a nod to the author's linux admin work.

This story was both super cute and gripping, which was amazing for such a short work of fiction
