i am not afraid to say that i'm still totally into this series. it's so trivial, mia's problems are so trivial, she overreacts in such a relatable way, and the secondary characters are still everything.
this is the book in which mia, tina and lilly obsess over jane eyre and tbh they read the book so differently than i did it's funny.
yeah.

Not the best in the series so far, but still a fun, quick read. Mia was a little whiny and annoying in this one, but I did understand. She's 14, it's all very confusing at that age. I was completely stupid at 14, and looking back now I'm really embarrassed at some of the things I did/said. Enjoying my reread of the series a lot, and if I remember correctly, the series gets better as Mia matures!
The adventures continue - now Mia needs to juggle her newly-found love and royal responsibilities. Naturally, she spirals into an overthinking mess. Realism at its best!
It was hard to get used to the new narrator at first, but she is actually all right.
These books are all witty, charming, short and thus easy to keep diving into. There's something about the early 2000s vibe that entices even me, while I don't really enjoy modern teen YA that much anymore.

The good things about this book are the fun writing style, interesting concept, and lovably flawed protagonist. However, this book in particular has one of the more annoying plotlines, as Mia decides to play hard to get and is surprised when it unsurprisingly backfires. This book isn't bad, but it's just not my favorite Princess Diaries book.
Fun guilty pleasure. Super fast read that is always entertaining and mindless. This is a nice series to read when you just need a break from life and enjoy the overdramatized teen life 😂
*2020 re-read:
Meg Cabot's writing is funny. I enjoy her narrative as 15 year old drama queen Mia, who constantly thinks her life is OVER for trivial reasons, struggles through the minutiae of high school algebra, and decrees that the guy she just started going out with is 100% her true love, her one bright spot, etc. Because its genuinely enjoyable and funny! I love her little asides about NYC and various culture and arts, somewhat dated in 2020 but all references that I recognize and enjoy. I think the silliness of it all is a welcome escape from the constant heaviness of everyday reality. Also, Meg (and therefore Mia, Lilly, and Michael) has a great vocabulary and some strong opinions about environmentalism, patriarchy, and the importance of the arts - which is awesome in a series aimed at kids.

Hubiera amado tanto leer estos libros cuando tenÃa la edad de Mia, porque al final del dÃa, princesa y todo, she’s just a girl.
