Cute. Mia's angst and insecurities were at about 11 in this book, which made it a little harder for me to get through than the previous ones. At the same time, being a teen is all about angst and insecurity so it fits. I think I'm going to take a break from the Princess Diaries for a while and then grab the next book on CD and try to work my way up to the most recent book!

My least favorite of the series so far. A boy obsessed Mia is just annoying. The Jane Eyre bits made me laugh though.
This one was so cute!
I've seen a lot of reviews of people complaining about how annoying Mia is in this one, and while I do get it, I have some thoughts and defenses:
Mia is a 14 year old girl with what appears to be pretty severe anxiety (as evidenced by the nail biting and extreme over thinking, as well as hiding her true emotions and not knowing how to say no to people). As a 28 year old woman also with anxiety, I STILL to this day have thoughts like Mia does. I constantly worry that people are going to leave my life because I've annoyed them or made one tiny mistake. Now imagine you're her, with anxiety and the newly added pressure of learning to govern a whole ass country, and finding out the guy you've loved for like 8 years likes you back? I'd be nervous as hell too, and constantly paranoid I'd mess it up.
So yes, Mia has her issues but they're real issues. Meg Cabot writes teenagers so, so perfectly because I bet at least 75% of us have all had this sort of attitude at one point in our lives, the attitude that one small setback is the end of the world.
All in all, this was such a fun one, and my love for Michael keeps growing. He's so sweet. Lilly is also getting better, we get to see her turn into less of a crappy friend. (Also the bit in this book poking fun at the Anne Hatheway movie was hilarious).

Better than the last one, but not as good as the first two. Mia is kinda crazy. Tina is just the cutest. Michael, of course, was perfect. I totally laughed over the whole movie plotline, it was so so hilarious. The only thing wrong with it is that Mia says that the guy who plays Michael in the movie is “a total babe,” which I’m sorry, but wrong, cuz he isn’t. He’s just cute in a weird way. Book Michael though is “a total babe.”

Mia is now dating Michael and dealing with being a Princess, as well. I love the part where she makes a detailed list of how to take care of her cat, Fat Louie. Fat Louie in general is my favourite part of the Princess Diaries books.
Anyway, there's also lots of talk of Jane Eyre and cute lists in this book. Quick and cute read.
