DID NOT FINISH: 15%

Could not tolerate narration. Sounded too “whiny” and annoying. Perhaps will read physical book in the future.

Okay this one almost had me quit, because oh my god Mia, please. How many times do people have to say you’re not getting dumped for you to be like huh maybe I’m being over dramatic. Also the constant mention of Jane Eyre really turned me off I mean? Ugh. Not the role model I would go to for how to be a good girlfriend and get the guy.
I suppose I’m just missing Julie Andrews Clarice bc boy do I miss them having a sweet relationship rather than this gross manipulation and blackmail.

I'm actually pretty damn sure I never read this installment. But considering the release date, that might be understandable. I think I read the book series before the movie came out. And I'm quite sure that this book released only after. However, I'm constantly looking forward to read the next book in this series. And I'm only allowed to read them as "extra" books, so when I have enough time to read the entire book in one sitting AND already finished another book. But it's the highlight of my day.

What I really love about this series is that it really captures being a teenager as it truly is. One moment Mia does something extremely stupid, or she refuses to say something, or she doesn't notice something, and then a few lines later she write down, in capslock, that she just can't believe how stupid she is. It's the time of your life when you have literally no idea why something sounded like a good idea five minutes ago when it was very clearly not.

Once more this book doesn't really have a big plot. Apart from the fact that this time it's fully focussed on Mia's self-doubt concerning her relationship with Michael. And where normally this endless self-doubt would get on my nerves, I somehow find it quite endearing when it comes to Mia, because it's so in character. She never had a boyfriend, she has no idea how guys think and she's not miss popular. A teenage girl would doubt someone's love because of less, right?

And yet, even though Mia is not very popular and even though she's clumsy and socially awkward and even though she shouldn't take romantic advice from her grandmother, it's so hard to dislike Mia, to not root for her, to not see that Mia is actually a really good girl. She cares about people, she cares about animals, she cares about the world and she just wants to be happy and make others happy too. I can't wait to dive into the next book!
