I am loving this series! Sylvia's search for her family leads her, Gabe, Alex, Willie, and Daisy down a disturbing path. Gabe is attacked which puts everyone on high alert. Daisy and Alex decide to just be friends.

This is an author who "loves history" but, by creating an alternative 1920 England in which magic is part of the mix, seems to permit herself to do negligible research into manners, language and routines of the period in our world. The writer is, apparently, Australian, but the spelling, and often the language, are more American. which can sometimes be jarring. The plot gallops along, though the resolution seems a bit brusque, but I don't really believe in the characters or the world-building.
