Stella and Luka have been friends since she literally ran into him 10 years ago. She looked very sad and he asked her if she wanted a grilled cheese sandwich. (That is an important plot point, keep for further reference of sweetness.) They hit if off and they have been thick as thieves ever since.
Stella has had a rough time in her life: her dad left her mom as soon as she showed him the + sign in the pregnancy test and her mom passed away when she was 19. One of her best memories with her mom is visiting the Christmas tree farm and when the tree farm is up for sale, she buys it. A year after she bought it, things are not so hunky dory. A slew of unfortunate incidents are plaguing the farm and she's at risk of not being able to keep the farm afloat if she keeps having to put out money to fix things that keep breaking down. She is already on a diet of ramen noodles to make ends meet when an opportunity arises: to feature the farm in a segment by a social media star and win a substantial cash prize. But when she applied she said she ran the farm with her boyfriend (the influencer loves romantic stories). The thing is she has no boyfriend. Who can save the day? Luka! He's going to pose as the boyfriend for a week. The only problem: Stella has been madly in love with her best all this time...
This is a very cute Christmas, best friends to lovers story. I wish we had more about the other friends (Becket needs a book NOW. So does Dane! )  and Luka's family is a hoot and I wanted more of them. You can also spot the plot lines a mile away but it's so cute and Christmas-y and Luka is the best best friend and and even a better boyfriend, so curl up with a cup of hot chocolate and indulge in this cute story. Happy Holidays!
