Overall good read although it is missing conclusion of some sort. It basically goes through examples of companies that vanished due to bad decisions and how they progressed into irrelevance.

The author talks about five stages which are pretty much self-explanatory:

Stage 1: Hubris Born of Success
Stage 2: Undisciplined Pursuit of More
Stage 3: Denial of Risk and Peril
Stage 4: Grasping for Salvation
Stage 5: Capitulation to Irrelevance or Death

“...we are not imprisoned by our circumstances, our setbacks, our history, our mistakes, or even staggering defeats along the way. We are freed by our choices.”

If you like business books; Collins research reveals the commons stages of decline and provides guidance on what to watch out for and how to bounce back when you stumble.

"Really great book as a follow on to "Good to Great!" His five stages helped me to reflect on some of the mistakes I made in the past as a leader. His five stages are things that are violated all the time in the church world. They are:
Stage 1: Hubris Born of Success
Stage 2: Undisciplined Pursuit of More
Stage 3: Denial of Risk and Peril
Stage 4: Grasping for Salvation
Stage 5: Capitulation to irrelevance or Death

Read it and Apply It!"

I was kind of disappointed in this book since I loved “Good to Great”. It reads like a long article with a bunch of attached appendices. There's a couple good stories but it seems like the author was trying to stretch out a little bit of research

A great read! Audible has this book available read by Jim Collins himself which I highly recommend. He is energized, intelligent, witty, and thoughtful as he explores the research of how great companies crumble.
