I enjoyed this when I needed to take a break from reality awhile.

The scenario of the witch living a regular life and feeling guilty about hiding her powers from everyone she knew was very relatable, witchcraft aside. It's not really my usual cup of tea, picked it up on a whim. Took about an hour and a half, maybe a bit more, so definitely light reading, but that was precisely what I wanted.

I had a bit of trouble with some of the description in this. It was somewhat lacking? Might just be that the heroine is mentioned as having red hair a few times and that clashes with the image on the cover which I was sort of assuming was her. Not a great cover design, if so. I'm also not sure I even saw a description of the love interest/hero, or if I did, I didn't process it. The description was emotionally based from both of their perspectives, but that doesn't tell me a lot about what they actually look like.

Was it so good that I'm going to go out and buy the next one? Probably not, but this isn't what I usually read, and I don't think I'm as thrilled about it as an urban fantasy fan would be. (Not trying to demean the author's book, certainly. I'd bet if this is your thing, you'd love it.) It was good enough I'm going to see if my library has an ebook to loan out of the next one.

~ 3 Witchy Wolf Stars ~

The Witch Who Cried Wolf is book one in the Cry Wolf series by [a:Sarah Mäkelä|1349820|Sarah Mäkelä|https://d.gr-assets.com/authors/1353982374p2/1349820.jpg]. This story has witch’s and werewolves’s things I enjoy reading about, but it needed to be longer to develop more of the world and characters. It’s a descent start to the series.

Mia our witch. At times I liked her and at others I got frustrated with her. She lets fear stop her from being the best she can be. I’m not sure if I ever felt her get stronger in this story. I was also confused with her lack of knowledge of the supernatural world and her witchcraft. It mentioned she read her grandmas grimoire, so why the lack of knowledge? How long did she have these powers? When did they start showing? So you can see it was hard to really connect to Mia or figure out what was going on without asking myself questions throughout this book.

Ethan our solder guy and long time crush of Mia’s. I wanted more of his story. We don’t get a background story on him. We do get a mention that his parents died in a car accident, but not when this happened. Their is also a promise Ethan made to Mia’s brother, but not what it was or why. Last we are left wondering what happens next for him now that he is a werewolf.

Mia’s mentor Jessa the own of a magic shop, we are left with her in the hospital. Also Mia’s brother it feels like something is going on with him. Not sure. I’m curious to know what's up with him.

As you can see many questions/things are left un-answered which I hope get answered as the series progresses. Lots of things need to be flushed out more. The one thing I did like was the POV mixed narrative. It was always clear who you where reading about. It was also nice to finally see Mia and Ethan hook up. The sex was mediocre and we only get one sex scene at the end. I had trouble connected to this book and fully enjoying the story with all the question's and lack of world development.

The Witch Who Cried Wolf is an ok start to the Cry Wolf series. Many things need to be flushed out and hopeful the author will take care of this as the series moves on.

What a cute short read, only 65 pages long, but very fulfilling!

Mia is a witch, that she keeps hidden from her family. her friend and mentor in witchy ways runs a magical store.
On one day a tall, handsome man comes in and asks for a healing potion. Mia is shoved into the limelight to make it, and she promises to bring it back the next day.

Meanwhile, Ethan, Mia's brothers best friend is coming home for a while after being in the army. Mia has had a huge crush on Ethan since she was little, but he showed no interest what soever. Mia is coerced into picking Ethan up from the airport, and hes more drop dead gorgeous than before. Ethan doesn't seem impressed to see Mia there....
While getting back to the car, they were attacked by a werewolf. Ethan saves Mia, but is scratched and mauled in the process........

They head straight to Mia's to put some healing solve on it....but earlier Mia accidentally splashed a little of a love potion she had made at the same time as the salves and forgot.

We see Ethans side to this. He too is madly in love with Mia, but its an unwritten rule to want to date your best friends sister - off limits.
Besides, Mia is dating a complete jerk called Greg.....but not for long.......

The werewolf that attacked them in the carpark wants another potion from her - to kill a werewolf this time, and if she doesn't he will begin to kill those closest to her.
While in her kitchen, ANOTHER were comes in....blaming her for the Alpha's demise...he demands she makes a healing solve (without wolfs bane!) to heal him.

So the questions remain,
Who does Mia make the potion for?
will all she loves be ok?
Will Ethan turn into a werewolf?
Will Mia stay with greg?
Or will there be a happy ever after to this for Mia and Ethan?

Loved reading this, short and sweet and a great read!

This book was given to me by the publishers in return for an honest review.

I had not previously read anything by this author, and I’m not opposed to reading more of her books, seeing as The Witch Who Cried Wolf left off the story a bit too soon in my opinion. I would have liked to read more and see how Ethan handles what comes next and the consequences of what happened during the book. This might have been deliberate by the author though, because it did make me want to pick up the next book and read on.

Though some of the characters in the book annoyed me a bit, I liked the plot. Being a Wiccan, I have a weakness for witches, and who doesn’t like werewolves? My only objection to the plot was that it felt a bit rushed, and I would have liked for the characters to have a bit more time to breathe and develop, and for us to learn more of Mia and how she deals with being a witch. But I suppose that is the thing with novellas, isn’t it? They are short and most often deals with one event and few characters. As a prequel so a series, the novella did a good job, and hopefully we get to learn more about the past and everyday life of the characters. I do believe that I could grow to like the characters that annoyed me if I got to learn more about them.

Rated negative 5
It was free and had witches in in it, so I thought why not?
It had so much potential—as do all story concepts possibly—but the author had no time to write a good story. A good example of quantity over quality.

'The Witch who cried wolf' is a short, quick and fun novella that I read in a short space of time. It was a great mixture of all kinds of mythology that has the possibility of being a great series!

The story is about Mia who is a witch but it isn't something she likes to share only she and her best friend knows. Her life is going on as it usually does until one day she has to pick up her brother's best friend, Ethan a.k.a. her childhood crush, from the airport. On that day not only do her feelings for him grow stronger but something happens that changes their lives.

Mia and Ethan were nice enough characters but I didn't particularly feel any empathy for them which I guess is acceptable as it is a short novella so hopefully their characters will be delved a little deeper into in the next book. Also, their relationship had a great start in this novella and I feel it will go great places. I would have loved to have seen what their relationship was like when they were younger as they have known each other for almost all their lives.

The author's writing style is quite difficult to get into at the beginning but once your immersed into the book the writing because easier to read and flows better. It will be really nice to see how everything plays out with the werewolves and Mia's magic. I would especially love to read more about her magic and its roots.

All in all, a really fun and short novella that has endless possibilities for a great series!

*Thanks to the author who sent me a free copy in exchange of a review*

The premise was kind of cool I guess but the story rather abruptly ended??? And the sequel isnt about Mia and Ethan? Which is just confusing. I also didnt really get the pull of the main couple. I was interested in the magic tho.

It had so much potential and it kept almost delivering for me. I'd definitely be willing to read more from the author because of that potential but this one was a letdown for me.
