My Criticisms:
1) It's just a lot of Christians getting mad at other Christians.
2) Reminder that neglect is a form of abuse.
3) I have never heard of a more judgmental town. Those manse children are kind, good-natured, sweet little things and are punished severely throughout the book for the failings of their father and the town.

My Compliments:
1) As usual, L.M. Montgomery's talent for writing beautiful nature scenes warms my heart.
2) I found the scenes in this book better connected and cohesive than "Anne of Ingleside," so I enjoyed my time much better.

The Meredith and Blythe kids are funny.

It's a cute story, it just feels odd to be in the series. Not a bad read, but more like a side story to the series.

As a Presbyterian, all the references to the constant competition with the Methodists was amusing.

The book is what it is- an old fashioned children's book full of charming stories about children. The n word is in this book once, which was a surprise to me, so watch out for that if you're reading it with children.

PBS use to do Anne of Green gables Telethons, and it was always my favorite time of year.
As a child I loved Anne of Green Gables, but for some reason I never read the full series, I always stopped after Anne of Avonlea.

It was fun to revisit the characters and the setting I loved so much as a child

Montgomery writes children well, and in the mischievous Merediths, she finds kindred spirits. Their misadventures are entertaining, though Mary Vance is, as Susan would say, a cat of another color.

This might be one of my favourites in the series (unexpectedly so), it feels like I'm re-living my youth and childhood through L.M. Montgomery's books. She's so adept at descriptions; poetry in prose. I love her writing and i love the characters. Walter and faith are my absolute favourites <333
