I loved the whole series and kind of hate to see it go. The only thing I wish were different is that I wish there was an epilogue so that we could see just a little bit more of what happened after that ending!

I liked the ending it was cute. However Ceony continuing to throw herself into danger was quite annoying.

I was really wavering between 3 stars and 4 stars for this book. Ceony was still incredibly aggravating, and the third book was short and fast-paced like the second. In the end, it was an entertaining and fun read. I enjoyed that Ceony was delving into other forms of magic, and I do like the setting of this series. I really did enjoy the different take on fantasy and magic (at least to me) that this series brought. I would recommend finishing the series to anyone who read and enjoyed the first.

What a drag! It is a very disappointing series.
I hoped for a better ending where things made more sense. The enigma from the first book's climax was never addressed and no one questioned it. It is like the author forgot about it. In the aftermath of a showdown, everything is swept under the rug.
The characters progressively deteriorated or it was intended that there was only one smart character in Great Britain, our protagonist. Everyone else was clueless, uninterested in their profession, and very unobservant. If the magicians were the least capable, they would have realized Ceony's secret without her revelation. Also, as mentioned in the other reviews, if the secret is so simple, isn't that the first thing asmart/evil person would have thought of? That makes me believe, the author intended everyone to be a fool except our protagonist.
As for Ceony, she was a very nosey, highly conceited being. She forgets she is an apprentice and someone in no position of power to be imparted with confidential information.
The series was filled with lame villains. Even though every one of them was hyped to be dangerous and elusive for several years, the climax takes just a few simple moves from our protagonist and it is GAME OVER!
I like the idea of a strong female protagonist, but Ceony is not one of them. The books didn't do justice to the era it was set in. The last of the series, it tied up all the lose ends. Overall I liked the series and loved the imagination the author put into each type of Magician and the spells they could perform, from the mundane to the truly impressive yet believable. Some of them I wish a I had for myself!

Really enjoy this world and seeing the magic in it, but got a little annoyed by the main character just deciding to go off and do her own thing behind the back of and against the advice of people she trusted. In the first book she was forced to go on her mission and she prepared as much as she could and took smart steps to protect herself. In the 2nd and 3rd book, just would just happen upon an idea and then jump, ignoring the possible consequences. I believed her way too ill prepared to have succeeded.
I hope there is another book in this world, but with a less contrived and more responsible main character.
