5/5 ⭐️ This was such a beautiful story and written with so much detail - I felt like I was drinking a cup of coffee on my porch surrounded by blue hydrangeas my damn self. Love, humor, heartbreak, growth, family, UGH I FREAKING LOVED IT. Nora felt like a close friend of mine that I was rooting for the whole time and her kids were riots. Recommended by Katie (beachreadsandbubbly) and immediately added Annabel Monaghan’s newest release to my TBR.

i feel silly for saying this book is unrealistic because OBVIOUSLY it’s gonna be unrealistic. but it still felt too idyllic for me, the pace was fast and it wasn’t fully fleshed out or developed.

It was a predictable, lightheaded romance book. Definitely an easy beach read. Nothing about this book stood out to me as memorable. I did not have any strong feelings (not particularly funny, sad, or even romantic) towards this book.

I enjoyed the realness from the start of this story, the normal-ness of a mom‘s day-to-day life. But for me there was something off about having that realness aligned with a romance. There were too many beats between the story highs for it to be as heartwarming as I wanted it to be. Not because of the writing but because the ideal and real didn’t quite balance into a whole in my heart.

Quote I liked:
“It occurs to me what a luxury it is to be single and able to fall apart.” Chapter 4

It feels like I am the last person to read this book, not sure how I missed its release. Either way, this was a really fun summer read. Nontraditional from a typical romance with great dialogue & a gorgeous setting.

It’s my own fault for reading a romcom. It was a short book yet still too long. Nora is insufferable. The story is cringe. It’s not my type of book.
