This volume really escalates the darker tones of the series.

wow…this was the moment i was waiting for, and i was definitely not disappointed. the torture that kaneki had gone through actually had my blood boiling. he has changed and became a completely different person now. although i love his badass self, i can’t help feeling sorry for him. the torturing scene broke my heart a second time…even the art style and plot has improved a lot. this volume was horrific, it killed me, and i love it so much more than the anime.

Damn, this was a kick-ass volume! As much as I hated seeing Kaneki go through all that pain, his transformation was GLORIOUS, and I love how he has been able to hold onto a semblance of his humanity. I also love how Tsukiyama just shows and acts like NOTHING HAPPENED, meanwhile everyone wants to burn him alive. Oh, and Juzo has absolutely zero fucks and just fuckin' highjacked some guy's motorcycle because he wanted to fight and didn't feel like waiting for an opening. Classic.
