5 —idk what kind of cracks the author puts in her novellas, but im eating it up— stars.

"This woman. This ivy. She will end me if I let her."

How can someone pull so much emotions and life into less than 100pages ? still wondering

Synopsis:
The protagonists grow up living in the same street. And hated each-other for most of their lives. A decade ago they started a bet-game that sent them straight into a slippery slope of seduction.

Here is why this novella was without a doubt a "chef’s kiss":

The writing? Addicting, so poetic at times. To resume it, splendid.

"See, Aria Castillo has always reminded me of English Ivy. At first glance, the plant is nothing more than any other green foliage. When it’s still small, it’s not really a big deal or something that even stands out among a bush of roses.
But then it starts to grow. Its tendrils stretch upward, wrapping around anything it can grasp, and soon, it’s overtaking an entire wall, forcing its presence to be recognized. It’s then you see it for what it really is. It’s beautiful. Breathtaking. Commanding and resilient."

The banter? Top tier.

"There are no rules in our petty games, Aria. And stop trying to act all high and mighty, like you don’t shove your ass in my direction every chance you get in hopes of distracting me.”
“It’s not my fault you’re distracted by my ass.”
His humorless laugh in response is loud. “Spare me. All you are is one huge distraction.”"

The female protagonist, Aria ? How could anyone not aspire to be a confident bitch-girl-boss just like her?

" I am a sex goddess."
" I am Aria motherfucking Castillo, and I will not be nervous to sleep with a man that I’ve wanted to fuck for half my life."

Is the storyline with "obsessed man who thinks she hates him so he hadn’t make a move" a cliché ? Maybe. But a timeless cliché, nonetheless.

It’s a cute little read! Quick and easy. It was easy to relate to Aria, she’s feminine but also has some masculine traits. Kameron is a typical hottie fireman, with his dirty blond hair and dimple. Please~ I like that the BDSM that he is into is sensory play, and that they just enjoy themselves in the bedroom. My only complaint is that the author took a bit too much time getting there. Their computing at the carnival was too long and drawn out. I would have preferred if the author focused more on their childhood relationship and growing up together. It’s definitely referred to, and there are a few flashbacks, but when you first start reading it’s more like their rivals and not long time friends and rivals. I would recommend this book if you’re looking for a quick read. But you’re not missing anything if you decide to skip it. Definitely not a must read.

I didn't love this one as much as the others. I think it was more sex and less romance, while her others had a really nice build up to it. Still, Lee, as always entertains with these novellas and it's a great Fourth of July read...coming from a Canadian who doesn't have that as a holiday, but hey! lol. I'll pretend it's a Canada Day fair! The ending of the epilogue was the absolute BEST though! So cute!
