Book 4 in the Vet Shop Boys series follows recently divorced Chase & Fischer, the single dad to twin toddlers who bump into each other on a midnight stroll around their neighbourhood I was expecting to love this, and there were parts I enjoyed... however, this was a letdown for me.

A gay awakening and a single dad romance is usually something I would eat with a spoon, but where were the cute family building moments? I wanted to see the development of a family unit being built, I wanted to see Chase interact with Fischers daughters more and have those moments where us the reader see it go from him being on the outskirts to being and wanting them as his own family. Don't get me wrong, the relationship between the MCs was cute, etc, but it didn't give me what I hoped it would. 🤷‍♀️

As with the rest of this series, this was fun. I love this community we have with the Vet Shop Boys. It's ridiculous and simple, so it's easy to enjoy and simple for the brain. I actually really like Chase and Fischer. I think they are my favorite couple in this series so far. The fact that the way Chase coped with his divorce and coming to terms with his sexuality was to buy a fixer upper and adopt some piglets. It's hilarious and a relatable mid-life crisis reaction. The only thing that felt weird to me were Fischer's daughters and their lack of actual presence in the book. His daughters are such a huge part of the plot, but the scenes they are in, they are just a mention that they are present, but there is no interaction. It just didn't feel like it fit. Although, I LOVED the epilogue. I was just so happy for Chase and Fischer and their family with their HEA. definitely a good read.

Good addition to the series
I really liked Fisher and Chase. I liked the way they spent the time getting to know each other before starting anything. They became friends and Chase was honest that he didn't know if he was ready to start anything with Fisher, once he actually talked to the guys and got his head around his feelings he went back and fixed things.
I also enjoyed the secondary characters, Chase's ex wife who was encouraging and definitely Fishers best friend who championed the relationship and gave them time alone together.
