3.5, this is uniquely formatted as an audiobook (no matter how you read it, it's referred to that way), telling the story of the actor in both his memory of the first filming of the horror movie and the reboot of it happening in present day. It's a lot, but not hard to follow once you know all the pieces.
It's gross, and probably what many people were hoping Silver Nitrate would be. This worked a lot better for me than Head Full of Ghosts.

I don't think Paul Tremblay is for me unfortunately. I read his short story collection, The Beast You Are, and I really enjoyed some of the stories; others, not so much. Cabin at the End of the World was very mid for me and I really wanted it to end, and I got nearly halfway through with this one, and was just begging for it to end tbh. I think Tremblay has great ideas, but the execution doesn't work for me personally. I will say: the sound effects on the audiobook were very cool for the cursed videotape/reading the script vibes, and I do think this audiobook is very well done, but some of the noises were absolute hell for my misophonia.
