This is more of a 2.5 but I rounded down because it barely hits that. I'll admit it was better than the previous two but alas it was just really boring. If you asked me to recount the plot I don't think I could. It was plagued by the same cringe-worthy, forced dialogue as the last two (albeit there was less of it) and it really was just a massive slog. By the end I was reading just to finish it.

One thing that made me laugh was at one point Belle is searching the bookshelves in the asylum and finds the f***ing Necronomicon! You're telling me this takes place in the Lovecraft universe now? No, this was beyond stupid.

This book was a very interesting take one of my favorite Disney stories of all time. I was very excited to see where she was going to end this. The only reason it was 4 stars instead of 5 is because I was 100 percent sold on how she ended it. It left me wanting more closure. But overall this was a very enjoyable read and I look forward to reading some of the other books she has written.

This book is everything I want in a retelling. It has:
Original story references
What was left out
Back stories of characters
Duel Time lines
and so much more. I loved getting a look into Belle's childhood and how her parents met and the friends that they had and what made them leave their first village. I absolutely loved this retelling and I can't wait to read more the Disney retellings.

This book was absolutely beautifully written. As a big fan of Beauty and the Beast it really explores the open ended questions left in the movie- why did the witch go to the prince in the first place? Why would she curse an 11 year old for being a brat? Why did the book seller in town dote on Belle so much? What other magics are there if the witch had such power? It really is a beautiful tale of family, love, loss, and reunion.

So far my favorite. These stories are more twisted than I expected lol. Also some good chuckles in there. This has been fun
