In the sequeal to Shatter Me, Juliette is faced with her ultimate challenge: deciding which of the boys available to her will have or heart. ... Or controlling her powers and fighting the resistance. It's all a matter of perspective.

Anyone who remembers my Shatter Me review is probably wondering why I bothered going on in the series and could accurately say that it's not fair for me to attack books I knew I wouldn't like. The Shatter Me series, however, beckons that those who start go on in it regardless of their opinions. A lot can and does happen. The plot, particularly in this one, goes 100 miles per hour, no exaggerating.

There are still things I didn't like about it. It seems everyone in this book is overly absorbed in their own tragedies, but it is a thrilling read. It holds your attention, and not every book can say that.

So much better than the first. I get a little irrated with Juliette ever now and then. I think she will be a more likable character in the final book. I say this next part with no shame, I LOVE WARNER. I don't think she will end up with him but it's nice to dream.

2.5 out of 5 stars. Still not in love with this series. I'll admit that I did not see those plot twists coming though!

The main character is so annoying… everything Kenji described her as (I.e. whiny, selfish, self-absorbed, etc…) is literally what she’s like so at least the other characters (and the author) are aware of it. She was a little annoying in the first book but I cut her some slack given her living situations and the stimuli thrown at her but now it’s a little much. She’s slowly getting better but she always says profound character development things by the end and then reverts back to her pathetic self by the beginning of the next book. Hopefully that doesn’t happen again.

Favorite Characters so far:

#1 - Warner — He’s psychotic (but secretly sweet) in the best kind of way and he’s really warming up to me as a character. I totally support any kind of future romances with him.

Based on the hype surrounding this particular book in the series and the romance between two certain characters, I was expecting a whole lot fucking more from this book.

I don't know how many people compare this book to A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas by way of the feels it invokes with the love triangle. It doesn't even come close. Not even a fraction. I still just do not understand the love and obsession and feelings Warner has for Juliette. I feel like they were built on straw, not bricks. The whole basis of their relationship is show, show, show, and I need some tell. That is one of my biggest pet peeves when it comes to relationship building in books. I need to shown with actions and decisions, not just told with descriptions.

I think I enjoyed this one more than the first book. It was harder for me to get through and took longer to read, but I did appreciate the characters more. I felt like they were more grounded and flushed out. They didn't feel as much like props to Juliette's internal monologue.

I do plan to continue on with Ignite Me. I can't say if I'll continue with the series beyond the initial three books, but I do intend to finish out the trilogy. I'm still very much interested in the Warnette storyline, which was the whole reason I picked up this series in the first place. So, I'm excited to see how that continues to play out in the next book.
