I cried. I laughed. I loved this so much. It was a great emotional experience.
First, let me say that the Rocky Mountain Outlaws are my family. No one can speak ill of them or this book, which I've read three times, and each time, I've cried like Mary Magdalene because of how beautiful it is.
It's not just a love story between two men; it's a story of resilience and love for others. Without a doubt, this is one of the best found family books I've ever read. The love they share among themselves, the joy of reading about each game, and how they overcome every obstacle, it's all so heartwarming.
Some people claim that this book strays far from what the NHL is really like, but I say I don't mind. If I want a book that's 100% accurate to the sport, I'll read a memoir or something but this is fiction, and the author takes it to a place that resonates with everything, making me both cry and smile simultaneously.
Yes, there are heavy themes (as in all of Tal's books). My heart broke (and still breaks every time I think of these characters) during those scenes near the end yet, at the same time, the author painstakingly pieced it back together.
With this review, I wanted to focus on the book as a whole - the heart of the story: a team, a family striving to move forward. But don't think for a moment that the love story between Morgan and Shea isn't one of the most beautiful I've ever read.
Without a doubt, this book is my all-time favorite. I'd happily read it once a month every year, but I'm not an extreme masochist.

Somehow Brody ended up being my favorite character. I would kill to have had an entire full length novel with him and Lawson. Two novellas are not enough!

3.5 rounded up. I didn't fall in love with this one in the same way that I did with Gravity, but it was still really nice. I thought some pieces that felt a little too unbelievable, but it's ultimately a romance novel so I can give it a little more grace. There were still lots of moments I loved❤️
