1.75

Could not get any practical advice out of this.  It's extremely structured but for anyone who has tried in any capacity to get organized before, the "shopping: 1 hr, planning: 30 min, organizing: 2 hours" is very unrealistic.  She makes everything sound so effortless and doesn't go over the struggles that will inevitably arise.  Got to about 60 percent, could not finish.  Giving a 1.75 keeping in mind that it's a relatively dated book.

This book is very, very dated and the gender stereotypes got old. I also found it unrealistic for my current life stage (very busy mom of 3 very active kids). That said, there was some good information in it. However. If you’re looking to declutter/organize your life, I’d recommend Decluttering at the Speed of Life by Dana K. White instead.

The book encouraged me to purge and clean parts of my house. It is a bit dated and often did not apply to my small family living in a 2 bedroom apartment. As a visual person I thought it was text heavy and could be improved with some good diagrams/illustrations.

The only reason I'm giving this book 2 stars instead of 1, is because reading it did motivate me to organize a few cabinets and closets. The information in the book just wasn't very helpful. The help that was offered was really vague, and seemed to rely a lot on journaling, discovering your inner 'Zen Organizer', and creating lots of dream boards. It was all a little too froofy for me.
