The new school year in the Scholomance starts the day after the old one ends, because who can afford a holiday when everyone’s under constant threat of being eaten by creepy magic monsters? So this is the reader’s second year of the Scholomance, but El’s fourth and final, and the most demanding, which is saying a lot. Fortunately the actual number of deaths of characters is low, but everyone is still pretty much constantly expecting to be attacked - on the way to the bathroom, in their own room, in the library, in the cafeteria - and wow, that wears on you. It’s honestly kind of traumatizing. I *think* I recommend it, but you may want something cute and fluffy on hand to read when you’re done.
