A very enjoyable series that just keeps getting better. An interesting time period, immediately post-WW2. Previous books have included references to the Doukhobors, and now we have ripples from the Gouzenko affair. I wonder what will be next? I can't wait to find out!

This book is an entertaining tale of spies and Lane Winslow in Nelson and King's Cove, British Columbia, Canada. I rate it a solid 4 stars.
It takes place in 1947, and there are only 2 murders, with no graphic violence, so it is suitable for cozy mystery fans. Lane Winslow worked for British Intelligence in WWII, but left Britain for remote British Columbia. This is book 6 in the series, and I have read books 1-5. Although there are events in Lane's personal life that started in book 1 that carry through to this book, it can be read as a stand alone.
The book opens with the murder of a hunter by an unknown killer. The plot develops with spies from Lane's past while the Nelson Police try to solve the murder of the hunter. There are many twists and turns in the plot, with Russian and British spies plus Canadian Intelligence all interacting with one another and Lane and the Nelson police. There are flashbacks to explain how the characters come to be who they are. The plot wraps up very neatly at the end with the Hallmark movie ending that my wife prophesied in book 1. Both my wife and I enjoy this series and recommend it. I read it in 4 days.
Thanks to Curtis Samuel at Touchwood Editions for sending me this book.

As the series progresses the writing improves. Reading about the characters is like reuniting with old friends.
