I really enjoyed this story and was drawn to Inara and Kissen the most. Elogast was snooze-town. I guess I wanted more from the gods in this book. This is mostly a travel book, but very little happens tbh. Also was not expecting Kissen and Elo to get together, but I suppose it’s probably the best enemies to lovers I’ve read haha. The whole Arren reveal was boring and didn’t feel very solid. I am invested in Inara’s story (demigod??) the most I think. The rest is all bleh. But the world is really cool.

This is a book I waited a long time to read; for some reason the release in Canada was long after it was available overseas. I purchased a copy for my e-reader, but I enjoyed it so much I'm going to order the hard cover version as well.

I started this book close on the heels of a very disappointing read of Jennifer L. Armentrout's new romantasy "Fall of Ruin and Wrath"... (I also wrote a quick review for that) ... and Godkiller was 100% the fantasy I was looking for this fall!

I sometimes struggle with multiple POVs in a story, even though it is often used in epic fantasies. This time however, I had zero trouble following. The character voices were distinct, there were only four interwoven perspectives and they switched off in a way that moved the story forward.

The combination of action, world building, character development and a few twists thrown in, made for a very enjoyable read. I should definitely do a re-read because I sped through the last few chapters it was so good.

My only tiny criticism was the love scene towards the end of the book...

Now, I love a spicy scene (or several) in my fantasy books. Especially when it's a culmination of enemies to friends/lovers. This particular scene was entirely appropriate - but it was oddly written, it felt a bit awkward. The author starts out graphically describing the encounter (please, don't ever use the word nub again - I cringed) but then it's a fade to black. Either make it a fade to black from the beginning to keep it PG-13 or, if you're going to dive in with details - you need to finish the scene in a mature manner.
