This was fun and impressed me a lot more than the Future State series. The art is pretty good for that "new" shiny style I know they push people in. The story is better than I expected but it's also only the first part so I can't speak to the resolution. While it wasn't exactly wholly original or innovative, I think Zdarsky writes it well.

Really enjoyed this one. The story got a little repetitive (Failsafe knows all of Batman's moves!) but it was never dull and had some smart insights into Batman's persona. The art is also great; it is informed by the hyper-buff styles of recent years, but is a little more subtle than some of the worse examples of that style.

was surprised at how much i liked this, though i feel like there was some mischaracterization at some points there, but that’s dc for you 🤷♀️ liked that it delved into dad vs soldier, weapon vs man there though
I love this. It’s a Batman story with his cool macho guy unsuperpowes, angst and secrecy, but also it’s very sweet and filled with love.
He may be a near superhuman person with trauma and paranoia and an obsession with justice. But he’s also a dad.

This was phenomenal. Chip Zdarsky uses some of the less-explored elements of Batman's long history and crafts a quick, hard-hitting action thriller with gorgeous art. This thing whips.
