Warum nur vier statt fünf Sternen?
Ich mochte sehr vieles an dem Comic und hatte unglaublich oft beim Lesen gelacht, mit Lauren mitgefühlt oder wollte Meryl durch die Haare wuscheln. (Ich frage mich, wie sie DARAUF reagiert hätte)
Und "Der Comic war zu kurz" sollte kein Grund sein.
Ich hatte Angst, das hier zu lesen, weil ich aus den geposteten Schnipseln nicht sicher sein konnte, wie sensibel mit Asexualität umgegangen wird (ich bin auf dem asexuellen Spektrum) und weil ich das Gefühl hatte, dass es doch eher binär zugehen könnte. Gewagt habe ich es dann doch, weil ich einen mega miesen Tag hatte und dachte "Ach, du liebst 'Sunstone', das wird schon als Comfort Reading taugen". Und es taugte sehr gut als Comfort Reading und Stimmungsaufheller an einem miesen Donnerstagmorgen.
Der Comic hat meine Bedenken nicht bestätigt, es ist nichts von dem Schlimmen passiert, das ich aufgrund der Vorschau und der Schnipsel befürchtet habe. Er hat sie aber eben auch nicht entkräftet, daher vier statt fünf Sterne.

Tl;dr: Hat mir einen ziemlich miesen Tagesstart versüßt und ich freue mich auf den nächsten Band, gehe aber mit ein paar Befürchtungen aus der Lektüre.

The art is absolutely amazing, and the characters feel very much alive in their personalities and actions. Personally, I find infidelity squicky so that took down my score a bit, plus as this is mostly set up, I do feel like there's some room to improve, story-wise. It was confusing to tell who was meant to be the main character at first. But, I'm looking forward to future works in this universe and have high hopes for them!

Saw this in the store, almost cried, definitely freaked out, went home and ordered it online.

Safe to say, I had pretty big expectations when I saw the cover and read the blurb. At the end I did not feel let down at all.

It gets a spice score of 3.5. It has kinda abstract sex scenes with gorgeous illustrations that are pretty graphic. It also has imaging of genitalia, but despite mentioning BDSM it keeps itself pretty vanilla. It has a bunch of sexual themes, but most of it’s implied and all of it’s incredibly well done!

This book is absolutely a set up for a story though. It’s slow paced and world building comic that sets up the story that it promises in the blurb. I didn’t really mind, but I can see how that would be a let down for some people.

The art, as usual from Stjepan Šejić, is absolutely gorgeous, vivid, and colourful. Some of Lauren’s expressions actually made me laugh out loud. I was thrilled to find some familiar faces making an appearance too!

The story somehow nails the balance between heartbreaking, emotional, dramatic, and sexy, horny, playful. It’s also effortlessly and deliciously queer in a way I wish more media was.

This set up makes me very excited for future volumes. I’m already deeply, emotionally invested in the characters and I hope really badly that their stories end happily!

To step it up even further in the future I would love to see more variety, especially in body types and faces!
