I loved this book. I'm not a huge Stephen King fan. I've read some of his books, and they've been hit or miss with me. But this one hooked me from the beginning and kept me interested. It was great being able to catch up with Danny and see him hit rock bottom and climb back up. It has small references to The Shinning in it, but it if you're expecting it to be a continuation you'll be disappointed. I really enjoyed it.

I struggled with this book in the beginning. I wanted Danny to have had a happy life from the end of The Shining to the present. Once I wrapped my brain around the fact that it didn't happen, I was able to see this book in a new light. This isn't a second Shining book but an extension to the story. I loved the tie ins to the two stories. Stephen King is a master of words and character development.
