Not bad, but not as good as the start of the series. I found the adventures a little more pedestrian this time, without the wonder of having the kids learning about themselves, their parents, and their powers. The idea of AA for teen heroes was cute, but I didn’t find there was enough behind me to thrill me.
Overall, an acceptable continuation, but I don’t think it would draw in new readers.

I love the Runaways. This volume is a great follow-up go volume 1. I’m looking forward to reading the rest of the saga!

The second installment in the Runaways series sees our "heroes" trying to fend for themselves, right some wrongs, and navigate the grown-up world. Love the interaction with other classic characters, great humor, tender moments, and lots of conflicting emotions. Another great coming of age in a world where you really don't fit it.

4 stars only because it didn’t have enough Karolina Dean in it.

Okay, I liked this...but less than volume 1. A lot less. I'm all for living on the edge (I'm a student of the Joss Whedon School of Hard Knocks) but this seemed to careen a bit out of control at times and not always in interesting ways. Big character drama is good, but at times, felt unearned here--I *should have been sobbing* at certain moments here (and goodness knows I'm likely to), but the stakes felt too manufactured, if that makes sense.

The first volume was all about defeating the parents and I'm so disappointed that they resolved that arc so quickly because now? Now we have Young X-Men. Which, don't get me wrong, I LOVE kids fighting crime, but I was hoping that this would be a little more psychologically satisfying than that. Love the addition of Victor, though--even if he does come off as a just-slightly-less-nerdy Alex. And the overlap with other Marvel universes kind of makes me feel like "meh"--somewhat interested, but mostly annoyed that I have to hunt to find the overlapping arcs.

The runaway super-teens return! The first half of this seemed to be light on "runaways" and heavy on "guest star" superheroes, which frustrated me. The second half, however, mostly made up for that imbalance - the story kept me turning pages. I liked all the action, even though the plot was all over the place.

New heroes were introduced that I wasn't crazy about and older characters left, which was sad. I enjoyed the small bit of time-travel included and wished there had been a bit more of it. I did really enjoy this read overall - just not as much as the first one. Looking forward to reading the last volume soon!

It was entertaining enough, but not great. I don't think I'll continue with the series. I'm sure there are other GNs I'd enjoy more.

This time, I read this as individual volumes. The first two books do hold up as an arc. The third not as much. Still we see the team change and transform very slowly. But not really grow. Still a pretty good book overall. 3.5 of 5.
