This is a great book. I chose to read it because I needed to read a book by someone from my hometown. Well, home state had to be close enough. Crutcher knows how to tell a story with a sucker punch at the end. I look forward to reading more of his work.

I've only ever read Deadline before, but I really enjoyed it. So when I read his autobiography I expected to like it to. Well I did, it is one of my favorite books that I've read in a while an probably one of my top three English Festival books. It's funny and humble at the same time as serious and kind if inspiring. The only issue I had was getting used to how he went back and forth in his childhood a lot, though I understand why. It's not exactly supposed to in chronological order and it worlds for him. I also wish he wrote more about his later life but to be honest his childhood is interesting enough to suffice. This made me a fan if Crutcher and I'm glad I picked it up.

I enjoyed this memoir. Crutcher's upbringing was very unlike mine, but there were some commonalities. I really liked the way he talked about his process, how his life informs his books. I picked this out of my library's audiobook pile because I thought I'd read one of his books, but it turns out I haven't. I'm planning to in the future.
