I am done.
This book had more overt racism than the previous. You’d think she’d learn and grow with time.
Nope.

Although this series was addicting, and I wanted to know the ending, it was excruciating to see her biases on the page, her excuses and empathy for bigots and extremists (their counterparts within a supernatural world), her microagressions to her straight-up admitting ignorance and belief in stereotypes, to typecasting minorities straight into those stereotypes and minimizing their roles, and remember that time that she said that a particularly difficult week was “[her] own Trail of Tears”?
Would not recommend.

Only 2 stars instead of one because the series feels more wrapped up than it did after the last book, which was painful in itself to read. (Turns out the hero all along was mob justice and drunken rednecks with guns.)

A varied collection of short stories to bulk out the series, explaining some of the "between" bits and delving more into other characters. Most of them I'd already read; I think there were 3 new ones. But it was nice to revisit Sookie's world.

Disclaimer: I received a free copy from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Been reading these as they fit in the Vampire Book Club Timeline. Dracula Night is by far the best. Just barely skimmed Playing Possum. I could care less about Sookie’s nephew Hunter.

3.5 stars. My favourite stories were Dracula Night & Two Blondes, naturally.
