Really good and insightful overview of human history over the past 10,000+ years, and how the earth's history and geography has since shaped that history all over the globe.
Pretty thick and dense book, but worth it, if you have the time to pace through it.

This is more general history than I anticipated. I like a good history book, but I was a quarter of the way through and hadn’t really learned anything new.

Anyone interested in why the world is the way it is should read this book. Well researched and compelling. Highly recommend.
