I really loved that this book had lots of lore and mythology intwined into the story, and the magic of tea was something I'd never read about before. It kept me hooked the whole way! I also appreciate that the story does not revolve around a romance, but more so around familial love and ties.

This was such a cool and unique magic structure. However, it ends in such an enormous cliffhanger that I was frustrated rather than excited about the next book.

The book starts feeling like a fun and normal YA book, but as the fascinating magic system is revealed the plot starts taking unexpected twists. I overall enjoyed this book a great deal but would struggle to recommend it without the cliffhanger warning.

I had higher hopes for this book :( I didn’t ever really feel like I got to know the characters and the pacing was kind of all over the place. But she’s so pretty and I already own the second book lmao
