A poetry collection that is EVERYTHING a poetry collection of this caliber ought to strive for; packed to the brim with strong sparks of emotion  coupled with the imagery of the violence enacted upon Palestinians,  sociopolitical analysis with strong intersectionality, and a perfect mix of long form and short form poetry.

Remi Kanazi is a master of his craft, casting strong biting words against the Israeli occupation, Western politicians, Zionists, and substance-less, action-less Palestinian “supporters” alike. His poems push readers to really digest Palestinian advocacy, acknowledging the works of student protests and BDS movements alike while also pushing for stronger momentum in the movement “Before the Next Bomb Drops”.

It is immensely jarring and depressing how this book published in 2015 continues to hold MASSIVE relevance in 2024, nearly 10 years later, this is one of my top favorite Palestinian poetry collections to date and I highly highly recommend.

The best book of poetry I've read so far. The power. The heart. The heartbreak. The phrases that grab you by the brain and won't let you think away. Every person in the West needs to read this.

An urgent and unflinching poetry collection that has only become more relevant and more desperate since it’s 2015 release.

"you don't want peace/you want pieces/and this puzzle/doesn't end/well for/you"

What can I say about this collection that hasn't been said before? There should be more anger in poetry (no matter what colonizers say).
